Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
The Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a Medicare program that provides financial support for dental treatment for eligible children between 2 and 17 years of age.
To qualify, you (the parent, carer, guardian) or the child must receive certain payments from the government for at least part of the calendar year, e.g., Family Tax Benefit A.
As of May 2025, eligible children are entitled to receive $1132 worth of essential dental services over two calendar years. Treatments covered include:
At Richmond Road Dental:
- we bulk-bill all preventative services (marked with an asterisk (*) in the list above)
- a gap fee (or co-payment) may be charged for restorative or more complex treatments.
Please note that the schedule does not cover the following services:
- Orthodontic dental work.
- Cosmetic dental work.
- Any dental services in a hospital.
