Our story
The journey to Richmond Road Dental started with Dr Jane McAdam.
Jane grew up in Sydney, spending many an hour at the dental practice her mother and father owned, ultimately sparking her interest in dentistry.
Jane attended the University of Sydney and graduated from the Dental School in 1983. She relocated to Queensland and worked in the public and private dental sectors for five years before deciding to go out on her own.
In 1988, Jane purchased a small dental practice in the Cannon Hill Shopping Centre, which she quickly outgrew. In 1993, she decided to buy a house with a shop front located on Richmond Road in Morningside. This building allowed for two dental surgeries at the front and allowed Jane to live in the back half of the building for some time.
Around 1999, Jane had expanded her following even further. She required more dental surgeries for the growing patient base, so she moved out, and the practice added a new surgery room and updated the common areas.
By 2011, two more dental surgeries were added, totalling five working rooms and plenty of happy and healthy patient smiles!
Associate dentists helped build the practice along the way to its great success today, with Dr Elaine Lim becoming a part-owner of Richmond Road Dental alongside Dr Jane in 2001. Jane decided to sell her part of the practice to Dr Megan Tucker in 2019 and continued to work part-time until her retirement in June 2022.
Jane’s bubbly and outgoing personality made Richmond Road Dental an enjoyable workplace. Her expansive dental skills and desire to help everybody in any way she could created a very loyal and grateful patient community. The walls of Richmond Road Dental still house Jane’s graduating certificates, her parents’ and grandparents’ certificates, and the legacy that the McAdam family built.
We are forever grateful for Jane’s hard work and dedication to this practice, staff, and patients. We hope to continue the great name of Richmond Road Dental – and everything it stands for – for many years to come.
